Ryosuke Ishigami, a fifteen-year-old boy who has completely neglected his studies and spends his days riding a motorcycle with local delinquents. One evening, while speeding and seeking thrill, the group of troublemakers notices a lone female figure and begins chasing her after she silently refuses their offer for a ride and to get to know each other better. Little do they know that they will become the frightened prey for an unusual monster, while Ryosuke turns out to be the only one the creature does not harm. Upon returning home, where his always-absent mother is engrossed in science and his journalist father is rarely present, the boy unexpectedly finds himself reminiscing about his happy childhood, which included an unusual cat that had learned to dance skillfully and, even more remarkably, write with understanding. Following these memories, a monster from the highway suddenly intrudes into his room, which turns out to be the same cat from his childhood, now grown up with the appearance, speech, and intellect of an adult, seeking a place in this world and the truth about its origins.
