Yumi Ikoma and Ryou Masaoka are children who have been selected to participate in a secret mission. They must become the pilots of the first Fafnirs, which represent humanity's last chance for survival. The enemy is merciless and possesses the ability to read people's minds, so the details of this task are kept secret even from the personnel. The young pilots must use all of their courage and faith to survive and complete their mission, or the fate of humanity will be put at risk.
